I want to know how you can tell the age of a turtle. I have Florida cooters they are still small but I have no idea how old they are...any suggestions?
You simply count the ridges on one of their scutes then divide it in half. Just do a search online for a video or more in depth instruction on how to do it.

The only way you can tell their age is to be there when they are born. After that, you are just guessing according to their size and how worn down their shells are.
A mature Florida cooter can be about 13 inches long.
