My baby snapper has this weird stuff on its shell. I can't see it when i take him out of the water, only in the water you can see it floating off his shell.
Sounds like he is not getting enough Calcium. His lighting must be set up right, UVA light over basking area,Upper temp high 80's, low 90's, UVB light set up ( ie 10.0 coiled), they sell fortified calcium pellets. feed several times a day in his tank, hand feed it you can, eyes must be open or he won't eat, water few degrees warmer when a baby and sick, low 80's.. cuddle bone added to new water as you can roll the pellets in a shaved cuddle bone to give him added calcium. The warmth is what stimulates his appetite... Vet's usually give Vitamin A shots when turtle is sick and won't open eyes. I hope this helps, sincerely, Susan.

now this could be 2 things, either he is shedding his skin, or he hasnt got enough vitamin c, when you get him out of the water try squeezing the shell gently, if its soft he needs more vitamin c, you could scrape cuttle fish over his food, this will harden the sell. hope this helps! let me no if it does, and good luck.
