I have had a male box turtle for about four years now and the other day I found a female and I know you can't just put them in the same cage they have to interact well and get along. Well I put the both of them on the floor and my male was biting at her back feet and trying to mount her but she would keep running away. I know this is mating but she is quite heavy is it possible he has a shell full of eggs and is trying to get the message across that she can't "do it" or what are the other possibilities?
