Broken Shell

Hi!

I just bought a tortoise and i put it in the tank with my bigger turtle....(maybe about 4-5 inches shell length). And then i noticed a few shells on the side from the lil one is missing.

One small part on the right, and on the left one part but now i can see a hole at the body part.

I have now taken the small one out into a separate tank for healing (if possible even)


Question 1: Will it grow back ?

Question 2: Is it possible it got nibbled by the bigger one or could it have hit onto a rock or something and it fell off?

Question 3: I assumed turtles can be placed together no matter what size / age ?
