We have had a large desert tortoise for years. It is indoor/outdoor, comes in the house when he wants, or stays outside in a nice yard with a covered enclosure when he wants. He gets lots of fresh fruits and vegies as he desires. Suddenly, he is hellbent on escaping the yard. It is fully enclosed, but he is digging under fences, pushing aside bricks, large rocks, anything to escape, ripped through a screen door. We are trying everything. I live in California, and it's fall, and he should hibernate soon. He's never done this before. Why is he doing it and anybody have any suggestions on how to get him to stop?
