exploring red eared slider turtle

i have a red eared slider and sometimes i let her out in my room, making sure she doesnt get anything she's not supposed to of course. is this bad for the turtle or my carpet?

I let my russian walk around my room all the time, just make sure you keep an eye on him and make sure there is nothing that could tip him over
