For some reason my Red-Footed tortes only seems to eat lettuce, is this bad for the tortes, and if it is, how can I get it to eat something else without starving it?
My turtles are tortoises. They usually like fruits and cheese. They aren't eating much of anything. They live inside. They sleep in blankets.I don't know what to feed them? I've tried reptile food and they won't eat that. I've given them fruits and vegetables. They sometimes nibble on them.

What you feed a tortoise depends on which tortoise you have. There are lots of Web sites that list a good diet for each type of tortoise. I think this one does, too. You just have to find it in the list of topics.

If your tortoise is not outside in direct sunlight, it needs a lamp. If it doesn't get the right light rays, it cannot metabolize what it does eat, and as you are experiencing, it will be come ill. Eventually, it will die. Please read the material on this page
I bought a baby tortoise last week he doesn't need heat lamp we leave him to wonder the house but he doesn't seem to eat a lot he's eaten cucumber a few times and he's been in the garden eating dandelions but apart from that not a lot in fact none today is this a concern or normal behaviour?

feeding your tortoise just lettuce isnt a very good idea becasue all it has in it is water and a little bit of nutrients....have you tried dandelion greens?? its similar to lettuce accept WAY better for your tortoise. also, put calcium on its food and make sure it has sunlight so it can digest the food! hope i helped and next time if you want a better answer you might want to try adding more details like what food you have tried so far and if its a baby or adult and if its a boy or a girl.!
