hibernation advice please

Ive had a pair of horse-fields now for about 10 years but have never let them sleep through the winter,not only haven't i anywhere cold and quiet enough for them but I'm also frightened of loosing one or both of them through doing so. I've heard through a friend that you can put them in the fridge but have yet to meet anybody who has done this......is there anyone out there who could point me in the right direction on doing this and could pass on some much needed advice?????
