i need help

here is a picture of my baby tortoise, it hasn't eaten anything since we got it four days ago, it may have eaten a tiny piece of coriander. I was thinking it may be preparing for winter.could you please tell us some good safe nutritious foods and the ones we should stay away from

A tortoise should not eat dog food, but many turtles will eat it if it is available because they eat meat. Tortoises are vegetarians.

In general, if you make the proper food available to any animal, it will eat when it is hungry. It is common for an animal to have a settling in period where it doesn't eat much because the change of surroundings is upsetting.

 You'll kill it

Dog food should never be given to tortoises as it will kill them slowly. They only eat greens, flowers, weeds etc. Please read up...

 our young three toed box turtle - same thing

We got a young three toed box turtle (approx. 6 months old) on a Monday and it did not eat until Saturday. It finally started with krill and pellets. Then went to mealworms and earthworms. Now he likes dog food! We are trying to hide veggies in his dog food because by themselves he will have nothing to do with them. He gained 3 grams in 4 days. So be patient and hopefully as soon as your youngster gets accimated to his new surroundings he/she will start eating too! :D
