my herman tortoise keeps trying to climb up his cave and the wooden wall of his verium(dont know how to spell that word)

what does this mean is he lonley plus how do i know what gender he/she is

thanks mines an adult but he (we think) has been doing it since he was a baby so it would explain why he keeps doing it

Hi! My baby Cassius does exactly the same thing. From the research I've done I'm pretty sure thats normal. Cassius roams around the tortoise table and (I'm pretty sure constantly) looks for ways to climb out, all of which seems normal. He also tries to get out of the container I bathe him in! The only thing I'm worried about is when he's growing the point at which he reaches over the top! Hope this helps!
