My last turtle

by Stephanie
(Canada)

Recently I've had 5 turtles. 3 died from not eating (couldn't open mouth) and the 4th died from it going under a filter. The last one is still alive. But I'm worried. A few days ago I was holding it and it fought me and slipped outta my hands. Then it hit the ground. It didn't move for a second but then it was ok. I put it back in the tank. Now he's less active. Shoul I be worried? I don't want to go to a vet because it's expensive around here. Oh and he(or she) doesn't bask often. I barely even see it sleep. My turtle always has it's eyes open but after the incident it's just on the bottom with it's eyes closed which makes me REALLY WORRIED! help asap!! Please

Thank You

Hi there,

I would advise next time when purchasing so many terrapins try and feed them separately by placing them in another container so they can get all the nutrients and food needed to survive.

I would also advise you to take the poor chap to the veterinary or to the animal rescue to make sure they can check the little terrapin out to make sure it is well. Otherwise you will end up spending more money in the long run or even end up having no more terrapins left..

Being polite

This is for the last person who posted. I edited your post to remove the language that could be considered offensive. Your comment was bordering on name-calling, and I don't allow that. Opinions are fine, but I prefer that people speak politely to each other.

Keep it slow and steady.

rescue centre
by: Anonymous

i would also take it to a rescue centre, where they will be able to find it a owner who [can] look after it without causin it anymore distress. when you make the committment of gettin a pet u have to bear in mind that at some stage it is more or likely gona need a trip to the vets which can be costly.

I'd take this animal to an animal rescue center. They will take good care of it.

Otherwise, take it to a vet to have it checked out.
