hi i too have a somewhat similar problem. just around three months back i rescued an Indian star tortoise from a stray dog.its shell had small depression on 4 different places.now it seems all fine and active.i have never had any tortoise experience before and i did not take it to any vet.i feed it cucumber,beans and lettuce.recently one of my friends suggested me to feed it the green turtle food that available in the pet shops.after feeding it, it seemed to have pissed whitish and also it has been sleeping all day.is it ill? do i need to check it with a vet?am i feeding it rite?

No, the turtle is not committing suicide.
Don't force feed him. Take him to a vet to be sure there is no underlying infection from the dog bite.

hi sorry for intruding but I'm just wondering is my RES committing suicide? He has swollen eyes but I am already giving him chloramphenicol eye drops. his eyes are getting better but then he got bitten by our dog. the wound isnt bleeding anymore and I put betadine. now he isnt eating but he still poops. Im just wondering if I should force feed him and how to do it? please help! I dont the little guy to die :(

I'm going to guess that you aren't providing hte proper lighting.
You need a light for heat and a UVB light so the tortoise can metabolize its food.
