sspots on your tortoise

hi i have 5 tortoises that fit your discription 2 adults and three babys from them last year all healthy and happy. i keep mine in a indoor pen in the garage at night with lights heat lamps and soaking bowls with shallow water very important, as tortoises soak and drink, but the water must be kept clean changed at least twice a day, i sugjest a small flat plastic tray, but put a small flat stone for them to climb out of it or they may end up on there backs and die.theis encourages them to poop and pee in it, they sound like pulcherina marni, sub tropical tortoises from mexico and honduras, there wood land and need soil to cover themselves this males them very happy, they do need natural sunlight and shaded ares as well, so a garden is ideal in warm weather. but under about 15 degrees they dont function cant digest and get sick with a disease called rhinitis or upper respitory disease, especially if kept damp in draughts or in the cold.they are not difficult to keep once established, but are warm weather lovers and not a pet for a cold climate, but then no tortoise is they also do not hibernate and live aprox 60 years if looked after, they should be vet checked once a year for shell rot and intestinal worms, and may need there nails clipped at that time, i hope that this helps, i spent days identifying mine the web site chelonian trust has care sheets and are very experienced with there care, good look, and enjoy they make lovely little pet, once they get to know your the food person.
