what does it mean if my tortoise has pale pink patches on his shell ???

Most tortoises don't need protein. It can be very bad for them.

it means that it is not in good health give it some protein then take it to the vet

If they are on the underside, your tortoise has a blood infection and needs professional treatment. If they are on the top, I'm not sure.
