Puffed up Tortoise

Hi there

I had three egyptian tortoises that I've had and looked after for about 8-10 years. I came back home to find one of them had sadly died he was all puffed up and I have no idea why! He's slightly older than the other two and had always slept more and eaten less but has never showed signs of being ill. Any suggestions as to what might have happened? Im worried for my other two, and of course want to protect them from any harm. Please get back as soon as possible

Dead Tortoise

I"m so sorry you have lot a pet. This is a sad time.

Without more information, and more importantly, without seeing the tortoises, it's impossible to say what the problem is. But I would definitely take the dead on in to a vet to find out what happened. I would also thoroughly clean the living area for the others. If there is disease involved, they are at risk of catching whatever the other had.

Keep it slow and steady.
