Swollen Eyes on Eastern Painted Turtles

by Kyra

Hello. I am a new pet-turtle owner and something happened to mine. See, my turtle is an Eastern Painted turtle and are prone to health issues (so I've read online). I found this very thick, grey covering on her eyes and she won't eat at all. I have tried giving her some River freeze-dried shrimp and mealworms, but she just runs away. She has been with me since August, but I have never seen anything like this. My mom went to the vet and the vet said my turtle isn't getting enough vitamin A in her diet (mealworms, shrimp, logsticks). My question is: Where can I find some vitamin A for her diet? Please respond as soon as you can.

Thanks~
Kyra

P.S. We are using inflamed eye-drops, but I don't know if that will work. We also have UV lamps. One bulb is blue, and the other bulb is a CFL.

You can get vitamin A from canned fish, cat food, grated carrots, and fish oil.

Be sure to give any medicine the vet told you to give.

Keep it slow and steady.
