Buckeye, age 3

I have a 3 year old Russian Tortoise named Buckeye. She tries to climb the walls of her tank. She has flipped herself several times and this started happening about 2 months after I got her. Her tank is 55 gallons, and she is 5.5 inches long. I try to let her out of her tank in my house or outside if warm enough as much as possible but I am busy and I'm at school everyday. I need some advice on what to do when Buckeye goes nuts.

She is climbing the walls because she can see out, so she wants out. A tank is not suitable for a tortoise. For one, as you can see, her being able to see out is stressing her. Two, it's hard to regulate micro-climates and humidity in such a small environment. And three, tortoises need lots of floor space. Please read russiantortoise.org for more help.
