Turtle bleeding

Hi, By accident the turtle in the garden got stepped on. there was a sound as if the shell broke. The turtle retracted into it's shell and there was some bleeding, then after a while it started moving again and walking. We are not sure where the bleeding came from. We cleaned it up and put it in a warm dark place to rest. It is also eating some lettuce. Is the turtle going to be ok?
