Soft shell problem
by: Anonymous

Last night my mom went to pick up my little sister's baby painted turtle and she noticed the shell is softer than usual. This is caused by lack of UVB/A light like from the sun. Now those of you who have ANY turtles with cracked shells I suggest taking the animal to the proper vet and have them fix this and buy a UVB/A bulb but not from zoo med. That brand has shitty bulbs. But just today I was at my neighbor's house to barrow some cables to connect my DJ controller to my school's gym sound system, and when I got home my sister told my her turtle's shell cracked and bled. It stopped but its NOT GOOD. She is only 8 soon to b 9 but she was just messing with the turtle and well cracked the shell. And its only a baby painted turtle!

Your turtle is way past a quick fix. See a vet as soon as possible.

There shouldn't be cracks in the shell. I would take this animal to a vet.

Shell cracks getting wider
by: Vinayaka

Your turtle might not getting exposed to adequate sunlight. In that case the shell will be used as a source for getting Vitamin D. Please make sure your turtle is exposed to enough sunlight for having healthy vitamin supply. If situation is worse, then take him immediately to vet.
