turtles living in the same habitat

we just rescued a baby red eared slider about the size of a 50 cent piece. can it live in the same tank with my mud turtle? will they get along ok? I know the requirements for keeping each turtle I am just wondering if they will get along together. I know the slider will need a bigger area in the future. right now the slider is about half the size of the mud.

thank you for any help

turtles living together

Thank you for the info. I am still doing research but I think I'll keep the RES seperate at least until she is bigger. she/he is only 1 1/2 inches across the shell.

I have a mississippi map turtle with a red earred slider and they get along fine . I have never had a problem and both are healthy .

keeping turtles together

Ok, thank you. I definitely want to keep both healthy. We came across both turtles(at different times) and wondered how in the world did you get here? we feared they would never make on their own, they were both so small!
Thank you

Mixing Breeds

Please don't put them together. Even if they did get along, they put each other at risk. Every type of turtle has its own immunities and weaknesses. Diseases one can carry without succumbing to may kill the other.

Keep it slow and steady.
