I had to remove the contents of this post because it was all in capital letters. That degrades a page on the Internet and I don't want degraded pages on this site. Please feel free to post again in normal type.

Keep it slow and steady.

Why is my turtle not eating?
by: SusanWhy is my turtle not eating?

Well, first of all I am missing some facts, like water temperature, basking temperature, UVA light and UVB, temp of air, what is he getting for Vitamin A and calcium etc. age of turtle, size of tank.. Okay, when eyes are closed, that indicates he is not getting enough Vitamin from his diet. The open mouth breathing is telling me, he has the beginning of a respiratory problem which is caused by lack of heat or too much humidity. His basking area should have a temperature of high 80's to low 90's, depending on age, the water temp should be mid 70's to low 80'.. when sick, raise the temp to low 80's, now the moister in the tank also has to escape, so a good vented lid will help with that, and keeping room temp low 70's in house..UVB light should be at a suitable distance, now I use A COIL, uvb BULB OF 10, and works very well.. Now for his main diet, I feed mine a few calcium fortified pellets in morning and few pellets again in late afternoon. I add Romaine lettuce, and English cucumber, and he loves that, no other treats, as too high fat and protein and he doesn't need it...I also figure what works, why change it. I added the lettuce at about 5-6 months, and later the cucumber, which he chases around the tank...This will keep his eyes bright and shell hard, also i add shaved cuddle bone to water for extra calcium...water always fresh. The vitamin drops that they sell, do not work.. A vet will give him the vitamin A shot, as this will get into his system faster and have a chance to work... I would get some advice from a vet that deals with Equatic animals, a.s.a.p. I hope this has given you some helpful information, and I wish you the best of luck..sincerely, Susan.

Sounds like it's time to see a vet.
