yellow belly turtles

One of my yellow belly turtles has something some times thats big and black that comes out from the tail and then goes back inside again and you can see what i think is a her to be rubbing her back legs over it afterwards could some one please let me know if you can tell me what this maybe and if its normal?

I was freaked out too...you don't know unless you ask...I thought my turtles bowels were prolapsing, but yep...that's what it was.

Listen, the first time I saw something huge coming out of my little Russian Tortoise's Tail I thought it was dieing. I thought it had its insides coming out, it was pretty large for such a small Tortoise. Now I'm really sure he is a male and his name is now Holmes...I guess it has to be large to mate a female Tortoise. Who knew? Don't feel bad, we learn new things about our wonderful pets every day. Who ever sent that sarcastic last email to you, should be more sensitive....we also don't know how old the sender is who sends the question, give us a break ok..

wow as you say i must be so stupid for thinking the turtle ive had for over a year being told in the pet shop its female and the fact the 'penis' looks so lumpy and werid i didnt know but thanx for the sarcaum when im acually worried.
